Introducing…a half marathon and 10K amid the lush majesty of the Sherwood Forest Equestrian Center! The extensive trail system will carry runners through acres of beautiful rolling hills, forests, fields, and single track, returning them to the first-rate events area for a finish festival to be remembered–complete with libations from Seven Brides Brewing. This inaugural event is certain to sell out, so register early. With all the first-class amenities characteristic of Sherwood Forest Productions and Elemental Running and Training, this race will be nothing short of epic!
Both courses will be a single loop including hills, forest, fields, and single track. Detailed course maps will be posted in early summer.
Participants will be required to remain on the trails and within the course boundaries so as to not disturb the natural surroundings. Runners need be conscious of the terrain and exercise care in foot placement.
The course will be liberally-marked to ensure participant safety, participant adherence to the course, and ease of following the course.
Typical temperatures in the area range from a high of 82 ⁰F to a low of 55 ⁰F. Some humidity is likely.
The half marathon will feature at least three aid stations, and the 10K will have at least two. Aid stations will offer fuel and hydration options in addition to water and electrolyte drink. Aid station locations will be finalized by mid-June.
Participants are encouraged to carry their own fluid and fuel and must retain all garbage for proper disposal at an aid station or the staging area. Under no circumstances should any trash or other litter be left out on the course.
In order to preserve the terrain and serenity of the course, crews and pacers will not be allowed.
- Runners must wear their official race number on the front of their person, where it must be visible at all times.
- Each runner must complete the entire selected course under their own power in order to be eligible for a medal.
- Each runner must carry all their own food, fluids and other supplies needed for use between aid stations.
- Runners may not accept aid from their support crew or any other source while on the course and in between aid stations and designated support locations, except in case of a medical emergency.
- Any entrant who is unable or does not desire to finish the race must continue to the nearest aid station. The runner must relinquish their race number to the aid station captain and state their decision to withdraw.
- Absolutely no littering. Please respect the natural beauty of our trails and the rights of everyone to enjoy them.
Raffle drawing will be held promptly beginning at 7:00am, with races starting immediately following the conclusion of the raffle. Depending on final number of participants, runners may be started in waves every few minutes. If enacted, wave start times will be based upon estimated finish time and are not subject to request.
Time limit for the half marathon is 7 hours. The course will close promptly at 2pm.
All times are local time (Pacific Daylight Time) on Saturday, August 11th, 2012
