The only footrace allowed on its trails…now in its second year…a half marathon and 10K on the breathtaking trails of Red Rock NCA! You won’t find better views or more amazing scenery than that of Red Rock. This event is limited to 200 participants, so register early, as it is sure to sell out. With all the first-class amenities characteristic of Elemental Running and Training, this race will be nothing short of epic!
COURSE
Starting at the Visitors’ Center, the course will travel clockwise to the Moenkopi Loop, the Grand Circle Loop, and the White Rock-Willow Springs Trail, then to the White Rock dirt road, back to the Grand Circle Loop, on to the Calico Hills Trail, and finally back to the Moenkopi Loop, finishing back at the Visitors’ Center.
The 10K follows the same course, ending at the White Rock aid station. Shuttle service will be provided to return 10K runners to the start area, or they may arrange their own transportation.

Participants will be required to remain on the trails and within the course boundaries so as to not disturb the natural surroundings. Runners need be conscious of the terrain and exercise care in foot placement.
All participants will be required to review and acknowledge receipt of the Bureau of Land Management’s Threatened Desert Tortoise Information.
The course will be liberally-marked to ensure participant safety, participant adherence to the course, and ease of following the course.
WEATHER
Las Vegas in June…hmmm…wonder what the weather is going to be like? It’s going to be hot! High of 100 ⁰F and a low of 68 ⁰F, with no precipitation, so bring water and sunscreen.
AID STATIONS
Four aid stations will be located along the course. Aid stations will offer fuel and hydration options in addition to water and electrolyte drink. Vehicular and spectator access is available at all aid stations.
Aid Station 1: Grand Circle Loop and Scenic Drive crossing, Mile 3.7
Aid Station 2: White Rock parking lot, Mile 6.2
Aid Station 3: Sandstone Quarry, Mile 8.4
Aid Station 4: Calico I, Mile 10.2
Participants are encouraged to carry their own fluid and fuel and must retain all garbage for proper disposal at an aid station or the staging area. Under no circumstances should any trash or other litter be left out on the course.
SUPPORT CREW & PACERS
Crews should not be needed, although there is vehicular access to all four aid stations. However, vehicles will not be allowed to park at aid stations; thus, please encourage your friends and family to park in a designated parking area and walk to the aid stations, if they desire to see you there.
Given the limitations of the course, no pacers will be allowed.
PERFORMANCE RULES
- Runners must wear their official race number on the front of their person, where it must be visible at all times.
- Each runner must complete the entire selected course under their own power in order to be eligible for a medal.
- Each runner must carry all their own food, fluids and other supplies needed for use between aid stations.
- Runners may not accept aid from their support crew or any other source while on the course and in between aid stations and designated support locations, except in case of a medical emergency.
- Any entrant who is unable or does not desire to finish the race must continue to the nearest aid station. The runner must relinquish their race number to the aid station captain and state their decision to withdraw.
- Absolutely no littering. Please respect the natural beauty of our trails and the rights of everyone to enjoy them.
RACE START & TIME LIMITS
Raffle drawing will be held promptly beginning at 7:00am. Due to the size of the trail, participants will be started in waves every few minutes beginning immediately following the raffle drawing. Wave start times will be based upon estimated finish time and are not subject to request.
Time limit for both events is 7 hours.
All times are local time (Pacific Daylight Time) on Saturday, June 8th, 2013.

Online registration closes at midnight, Wednesday, June 5th. You must register prior to Monday, May 20th in order to be guaranteed a race shirt and your requested size. This event will likely sell out, however, so register as early as possible! In the event it does not sell out, registration will be available at Packet Pickup; fees increase $10.

RACE DAY
All entrants to Red Rock NCA are subject to the day use fee, currently $7 for vehicles. Annual passes are accepted for admittance.
All participants will receive a commemorative technical tee shirt and goodie bag full of hot stuff! All finishers earn a custom medal. The top 3 males and females overall will be awarded, as well as top age group finishers in divisions 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. All participants must be present to collect their award–items will not be mailed.
Each participant will receive a raffle ticket to be entered to win one of the awesome raffle prizes courtesy of ERT and her generous sponsors. The raffle will be held prior to the race so participants are free to depart if needed immediately following their race. Additional tickets will be available for purchase for $2 each or three for $5.
FINISH FESTIVAL
All spectators, crew, friends, and family are welcome to relax at the start/finish area and enjoy the atmosphere while cheering on their runners. Plenty of food and beverages will be available. Refreshments are provided gratis for participants; donations from non-participants will be greatly appreciated and passed along to the designated charitable beneficiary.
The festival area will include booths and displays by ERT partners, with product samples, demonstrations, and items for sale, so don’t forget to bring some cash.
