Las Vegas, NV 89124
The only footrace allowed on its trails…now in its second year…a half marathon and 10K on the breathtaking trails of Red Rock NCA! You won’t find better views or more amazing scenery than that of Red Rock. This event is limited to 200 participants, so register early, as it is sure to sell out. With all the first-class amenities characteristic of Elemental Running and Training, this race will be nothing short of epic!
Starting at the Visitors’ Center, the course will travel clockwise to the Moenkopi Loop, the Grand Circle Loop, and the White Rock-Willow Springs Trail, then to the White Rock dirt road, back to the Grand Circle Loop, on to the Calico Hills Trail, and finally back to the Moenkopi Loop, finishing back at the Visitors’ Center.
The 10K follows the same course, ending at the White Rock aid station. Shuttle service will be provided to return 10K runners to the start area, or they may arrange their own transportation.
Participants will be required to remain on the trails and within the course boundaries so as to not disturb the natural surroundings. Runners need be conscious of the terrain and exercise care in foot placement.
All participants will be required to review and acknowledge receipt of the Bureau of Land Management’s Threatened Desert Tortoise Information.
The course will be liberally-marked to ensure participant safety, participant adherence to the course, and ease of following the course.
Las Vegas in June…hmmm…wonder what the weather is going to be like? It’s going to be hot! High of 100 ⁰F and a low of 68 ⁰F, with no precipitation, so bring water and sunscreen.
Four aid stations will be located along the course. Aid stations will offer fuel and hydration options in addition to water and electrolyte drink. Vehicular and spectator access is available at all aid stations.
Aid Station 1: Grand Circle Loop and Scenic Drive crossing, Mile 3.7
Aid Station 2: White Rock parking lot, Mile 6.2
Aid Station 3: Sandstone Quarry, Mile 8.4
Aid Station 4: Calico I, Mile 10.2
Participants are encouraged to carry their own fluid and fuel and must retain all garbage for proper disposal at an aid station or the staging area. Under no circumstances should any trash or other litter be left out on the course.
Crews should not be needed, although there is vehicular access to all four aid stations. However, vehicles will not be allowed to park at aid stations; thus, please encourage your friends and family to park in a designated parking area and walk to the aid stations, if they desire to see you there.
Given the limitations of the course, no pacers will be allowed.
- Runners must wear their official race number on the front of their person, where it must be visible at all times.
- Each runner must complete the entire selected course under their own power in order to be eligible for a medal.
- Each runner must carry all their own food, fluids and other supplies needed for use between aid stations.
- Runners may not accept aid from their support crew or any other source while on the course and in between aid stations and designated support locations, except in case of a medical emergency.
