The course consists of a 14-mile loop and an 11-mile loop, upon which runners will alternate to achieve their given distance. Runners will start east on a 14-mile, counter-clockwise loop from Cool Firehouse, east to Pig Farm and Salt Creek, north toward the American River and south back into Cool. Next, they will follow an 11-mile, clockwise loop from Cool Firehouse toward Northside School, to Knickerbocker, to the Rim Trail, past the radio towers, back to Northside School and Knickerbocker, and back to Cool. This course is not easy, do not take it lightly.
The course consists of single track and fire roads.

Three aid stations plus the Start/Finish are provided along the course. All aid stations have vehicular access; however, to minimize traffic, crews are allowed at the Start/Finish, Hwy 49, and Knickerbocker only. Aid stations will supply water, electrolyte drink, gels, salt tablets, soda, and snacks.
Wendells’s and Catecroft aid stations may or may not be manned during any point of the weekend. It is always the runners responsibility sign in on the check in sheet.

SUPPORT CREW & PACERS
Crews will be allowed but will have access to the runners at the Start/Finish, Hwy 49, and Knickerbocker only.
Pacers will be allowed for the 100M runners only. They will be allowed to start with the runner after completion of two loops (at mile 50) or at dusk.
The performance rules apply to every runner on the course. These additional rules and information will also apply to the Relay Teams.
- A relay team must have between four (4) and eight (8) runners.
- There is no set distance each runner must run.
- Only one (1) runner on the course at a time.
- The course must be run in order, as shown above, four (4) times for the complete 100 miles.
- Only Cool and Knickerbocker aid stations can be used for a runner changeover.
- Runners MUST CHECK IN with the aid station before leaving for their leg for tracking and safety.
- Please plan your legs accordingly. The 9.9M leg is by far the hardest, especially in the afternoon sun.
- Relay teams (all members) will wear a wristband (provided) to designate the relay team runners.
AIR TRAVEL & LODGING
The best option for air travel is Sacramento International Airport (SMF), approximately 40 miles west of Auburn. Some airlines fly into Stockton Metropolitan Airport (SCK), approximately 80 miles southwest of Auburn.
There is no host hotel for this event. Nearby lodging options within five miles of the race start are listed below. Additional options are available in Rocklin, Lincoln, and Roseville, ranging from 10-15 miles away.

RACE START & TIME LIMITS
- 100M/50M/100M Relay will start Saturday 08/08/2015 at 8:00am
- 25M/14M will start Sunday 08/09/2015 at 8:00am
- Time limit for all events is Sunday 08/09/2015 at 6:00pm.
- There will be a 1:00pm cutoff on Sunday 08/09/2015 for the 100M runners to start their last loop.

If the race does not sell out, we will accept registrations at Packet Pickup and Race Morning.

Volunteers are an essential element of any race, but especially for trail races. We have some of the best volunteers and we are always looking for some more.
Volunteers earn race entry/comp to a race distance commensurate with time spent helping out.

All participants will receive a technical shirt and a finisher medal (upon completion of the registered event). Awards will be presented for the top men’s and women’s finishers in each race.
100M finishers will receive a 100M finishers buckle.
Winners must be present to receive all finisher awards and raffle prizes. No awards or prizes will be mailed.
Runner instructions will be given ten (10) minutes prior to the race start. Runners are responsible for hearing all instructions, checking the website for updates, and reviewing the participant instructions email that will be sent and posted on Facebook and Twitter no later than Friday before the race.
Gear check will be available at the Start/Finish Area. Runners must mark their items clearly with their name and place them in the gear check area. Gear check is to be used at the runners’ risk; Elemental Running is not responsible for any lost, misplaced, or stolen items.
We highly suggest wearing gaiters for this event. Elemental Running likes and uses Ultra Gam Gaiters.
No need to pay for parking. Elemental Running absorbs the cost of parking for the event. Each participant will receive a parking pass with their packet pickup materials; these passes may be given to family, friends, or other spectators. Only one pass is available per runner.
All attendees and those with event passes must park inside the Knickerbocker gate (normally closed at the Cool Staging Area). After entering, all cars must turn around and park on the south side of the road, facing east, as if exiting.
Any spectators without a parking pass are still subject to pay the $10 entry fee for Auburn SRA, and must park in the parking lot closest to the fire station. Parking is not allowed in the trailer lot; cars will be ticketed by the rangers.
